The 12 covered reasons and 16 exclusions, explained
Claimful's refund-protection covers 12 named situations and explicitly excludes 16 others. This list is enumerated in the consumer contract Part I and the protection terms Part II. This post translates those into plain English.
What the 12 covered reasons share
Each covered reason has three traits: it is consumer-facing, it is verifiable with documentation a consumer can reasonably produce, and it covers a non-fault event. We don't cover refunds for changing your mind. We cover events like illness, jury duty, severe weather affecting travel, and a few other categories where the consumer can produce evidence and where the outcome is not the consumer's fault.
What the 16 exclusions share
The exclusions exist for two reasons. First, fraud risk — situations that are hard to verify and easy to fabricate. Second, scope — events that are better served by the merchant's own cancellation terms, by the consumer's payment-method protections, or by another product class entirely.
Why "easy to verify" matters
The deterministic eligibility gate runs before AI triage and before any human review. If the documentation the consumer uploads doesn't match the named covered reason, the request is denied at the gate. This keeps the AI focused on real edge cases and keeps human reviewers focused on judgment calls.
Where to find the full list
The consumer contract is published with every protected purchase. The merchant agreement references the same enumeration. Both documents are static text — we don't ship versions that drift between consumer copy and the underlying contract.
